Dos Corazon

Well I did it. On Saturday, I turned in my piece for the show. The Artists’ Nook is hosting the Transformation of the Mundane. It will run July 3rd through the 31st. It should be great fun. The goal is to create an art piece using an item from everyday life. I can’t wait to see what the other entries will look like.
I took an old printer’s plate and transferred the lyrics from En la Cruz on to it. Then surrounded the block in copper pipe tape and put a chain on it to hang from. From there I hung a heart and cool decorative knob at the top and converted everything into a copper and black tone. On the back I collaged a sweet Mexican couple. And I added milagros along the chain for the couple. The piece is called Dos Corazon or two hearts. It is a cool double sided piece.
The transfer was originally done in Keith Lo Bue’s class in April. He taught here at the Artists’ Nook (owned by Christine Webb). It was his first time in Colorado and all of his classes were just awesome. If you eve get a chance to take one of Keith’s classes, don’t miss it. I waited six years for him to make it here. And it was well worth the wait. Christine had folks from all over the country come out for the class. It was just a hoot. The students were all really fun and creative.
I am really excited about how the piece came out. My only goal was to make it look as though it was always a shire to the couple. It is wonderful how my art has evolved with time. I can’t wait to see what it will look like in a few months time.

This piece is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing it in person. Laurie
