Arvada Art Market Submission
Posted By venita on June 26, 2008
You would think I would give up submitting to shows, but NO!!!!!!! I sent in my five slide submission today. The show is December 12 – 21, 2008. Many of my friends have encouraged me to enter. It is suppose to be a large show done at the Arvada Art Center. They sell traditional art, glass, jewelry, and mixed media.
I submitted a diverse set of work from collage to mixed media assemblage. The little vintage praying girl is inside of a vintage cash box. As an aside, I really like working with vintage cash boxes, as you can see from an earlier entry this month. They create a great framework for encasing a story.
The praying little girl is in front of a vintage embroidered cloth with Mary watching over her. The small roses on the right were tinted to complement the embroidered clothe. And I felt like she was praying for us all, hence the inscription on the tea stained Italian paper card.
I am going to create at least two more vintage cash box stories this summer and post them on my website. And with respect to the show, I will remain hopeful that I will get in. I will know the week of July 21st. But by then, I will be focusing on getting ready for the Girls Inc. Show in Santa Fe.
We will see how it goes. I remain forever optimistic.
