Fort Collin’s Rocky Mountain Biennial Show Submission – Epilogue

Our Spirits Will Always Be FreeWell to my surprise the notice came in on Tuesday.  “It is with regret that we did not accept any of your work….”  I should have been really sad about it.  But, my response was quite different then when I received the rejection notice from the Emerging Artist submission.  I was oddly not really sad.  I just thought well, nothing ventured, nothing gained and then went on about my business.  I think my response was really couched in the fact that June has been a highly stressful month at work.  So, this was just par for the course.

Then it occurred to me, that I had received a package from Seattle earlier in the day.  So, I went and got a pair of scissors to open the package up.  In it was a card that said “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!”  My girlfriends from Seattle and So Cal had gotten together the previous week and one of the things they did was put together this sweet care package and shipped it out to me.  It contained fresh lemons, sugar, pitcher, a pale yellow tank from lululemon, and vodka!!!  I have to tell you that package brought tears to my eyes, to think someone cared enough to send me such a sweet note and thoughtful gifts.  This more than made up for missing out on the show and reminded me once again what is truly important in this world.

As the old hymnal says “I am blessed.  I’m truly blessed.  I’m blessed.  I’m blessed.”
